Sways with the Wind Scarf Pattern

$6.00

This scarf pattern uses the bamboo rib stitch to create a lovely scarf that’s rich with symbolism. I designed this especially for Threads of Compassion, a charity that offers hand-knit scarves to survivors of sexual abuse.

Looking for a special scarf pattern to knit for charity?

Do you need a scarf that’s easy to knit?

Do you need a scarf pattern that’s also interesting enough to keep you motivated to knit the entire scarf (rather than bailing halfway through)?

The Sways with the Wind scarf pattern was designed with you in mind!

Here’s what I love about this pattern (and think you will too):

  • It uses the Bamboo Rib Stitch–a deceptively simple stitch that uses nothing but straightforward knit and purl stitches.
  • Its 12-row repeat is easy to memorize, as it becomes quite intuitive after the first couple of pattern repeats.
  • The symbolism of this stitch pattern makes it perfect for creating comfort items. I named it after this Bruce Lee quote: Notice that the stiffest tree is most easily cracked, while the bamboo or willow survives by bending with the wind.
