There are two standard cast off methods. In this article, we’re going to cover the basic cast off. This is the method you’ll use the majority of the time in your knitting and one that creates a firm, neat edge. 1. When you’re ready to bind off, knit the first two stitches on the row. 2. Insert the left needle into the right-hand stitch on the right needle and lift up the stitch. 3. Pull the other stitch through it with the right needle. 4. Drop the stitch off the left needle. 5. Knit the next stitch. 6. Repeat steps 2-5 until all the stitches on the left needle are cast off. You’ll have one stitch on the right needle. 7. Stretch out the remaining stitch on your right needle until it is a bout a 5″ loop. Cut the yarn at the top of the stitch and pull out your working yarn.
